The Truth About My First Flippa Sale

Even though I was excited about finally getting to sell the dating site on , it was all for nothing. I eagerly sent the winning bidder a notification using the private messaging system. It outlined the details as well as my Paypal email address so that he could pay for the site.

I was starting to get nervous after not getting paid within the first few hours after the auction ended, which was silly since the auction ended at 11 pm. Hubby told me to give the buyer till Monday because the auction had ended on a Friday night. Perhaps the buyer didn’t “do business” on the weekends.

I was on the edge of my seat all weekend. Instead of working on other sites, I kept revisiting Flippa and refreshing the page, hoping to get a message. I also kept checking my email, but to no avail.

I checked Flippa rules and it states that I had to wait a full 72 hours after the auction ends before I can file a dispute. I really wanted the buyer to pay so I could send him the site and move on.

Once the 72 hours were up, I immediately filed the dispute. Then I found out that Flippa is giving the buyer 72 more hours to respond. If at the end of the 72 hours he does not respond, then Flippa will make a decision. The site also warned that if I’m at fault, there would be repercussions.

Again I was at the edge of my seat. But this time I did my best to pass the time by working on the second site that I was going to put up for sale, a stretch marks site.

The buyer still didn’t respond and the 72 hours were up. Automatically, Flippa waived my 2.5% success fee and relisted my auction for free. I was relieved that I won but I would have preferred to get paid for my site instead.

I went on the Warrior Forum and asked if I should leave a negative feedback or leave it alone and move on. I got mixed answers. Some said to leave it be and move. Others said that I was wronged and that I should leave a negative feedback so that other sellers will be forewarned.

I then went back to Flippa to look at the buyer’s profile and feedback. I noticed that Flippa and changed his +2 trust rating to a -9. I also found out that his account was suspended. I decided that I was safe enough to leave the feedback. I was matter of fact about it, not rude.

So there you have it, my experience with my first Flippa sale.
