I Host with Host the Name

host the nameHost the Name, The Host of Choice

Before I was with Host the Name, I used to host all my sites with Hostgator. In fact, I hosted with them for several years without a problem. So I’m sure you’re wondering why I moved my domains to an unknown, much smaller company when there were no issues with Hostgator. The reason: personal support and a much cheaper price.

Cheap Hosting

Now, I know some will say that you get what you pay for. And initially, that was what my husband thought. After all, Hostgator was charging me $7.96 for the baby plan every month. Not a bad price but if you visit Host the Name and check out their business plan, it’s cheaper at $4.95 a month. It’s just a few bucks less but still makes a difference for someone who’s on a budget, such as myself.

My Transfer

For being a smaller company, Host the Name is growing by leaps and bounds. I first heard about them when Oscar, the head systems administrator of the company, posted a special offer at the Warrior Forum. After mulling about it in my head for a bit, I decided to switch over from Hostgator to Oscar’s hosting. I was taking a risk because I didn’t know him or his company. But I did talk to him via private messages and he took the time to answer all my questions. He was very friendly and likable.

Even still, I would be lying if I didn’t tell you that I wasn’t nervous about switching hosting companies. I had done this many times before in the past with disastrous results. But I grit my teeth and tried to wait patiently while the Host the Name tech support moved my domains and files over from Hostgator to my new account. Luckily, it went off without a hitch.

What Does Host the Name Have to Offer

As of this writing, the company has a lot to offer. They offer unlimited hosting, business hosting (which is what I have), Facebook SSL hosting (this is a new type of hosting that Host the Name is offering for those who need to host their Facebook apps and fan pages to follow Facebook’s new rules), reseller hosting, vps hosting, and seo hosting. You can also register a domain through them, although I haven’t used that service yet.

Unlimited Hosting for $1.95

If you would like to try Host the Name out but don’t want to pay an insane amount per month (who does, anyway?), you can test them out with their smallest and most affordable plan, the unlimited shared hosting for $1.95. That’s friggin’ cheap! It’s a great plan for those who are just starting out or are breaking away from free hosting. You can host up to 10 domains with this.
